Daily Devotional: Finding Comfort

6/6/2016

We seek comfort in all kinds of places, but only one place truly gives us peace.
Isaiah 40:1-5

“Comfort ye, Comfort ye my people, saith your God.”

God wants to comfort you. His word is life in your life. His words brings you joy, teaches you, and guides you so that you can have the fullness of life.

What is the ultimate comfort? How about a time when you will never again feel pain, never again feel sorrow, and never again have to be parted from the presence of the Lord?
God’s word is so much more than a book. It is the living word, which parts our hearts and breaks our spirit. It pierces our soul so that we can receive the wisdom and presence of God. Faith comes by hearing. Hearing by the word of God.

The Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit. This third member of the trinity is a joy in our lives. He lives in your soul once you have accepted Christ as your savior. He leads us into oneness with Christ, calling us to holiness through obedience to Him.

Have you accepted His comfort? Or are you fighting the still small voice in your soul?

Do not reject the Comforter. Let the wisdom of God surround you. The Lord will keep in perfect peace the one who mind’s is stayed on God. When you need comfort, when your life is hard and full of grief, look to God. Look to your Redeemer. Look to the future that He has ordained for His church, and be comforted.
