II Chronicles 32:24-30
“But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him”
Hezekiah was miraculously healed by God and given fifteen extra years of life. God even moved the sun backwards ten degrees to confirm that he would heal the king (II Ki. 20:8-11). Yet despite this, Hezekiah became proud. His heart was lifted up against the Lord, bringing him under God’s judgment.
God blesses us with so many things. Yet if we allow those blessings to inflate our opinion of ourselves, our pride quickly brings us under judgment. We must strive to always remember that no matter how we are elevated in man’s eyes or how much our material wealth, we are still very small compared to God. More importantly, it is not ourselves that bring about blessings; we receive blessings from the hand of God from His riches in glory. No matter how you try, you make a blessing come to you. You cannot even give yourself breath. All blessings must be freely given to you by God. With this in mind, it is easy to humbly accept blessings as divine treasures without thinking that you deserve favor in God’s eyes.
