Daily Devotional: When We Look to God

​


What happens when we look to God? What do we find in His face?

Psalm 34:5

“They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.”

Those who look to God are not ashamed. When we come humbly to seek Him, God does not turn us away. He is faithful and just to forgive us if we ask pardon for our wrongs. We will not find an angry God who is looking for an excuse to harm us. Instead, we will find a Father who wants to lighten our load and forgive us of our sins.

​Are you ashamed to look to God? The publican would not even lift his eyes to heaven, but instead smote his breast and said, “Have mercy on me, a sinner.” Jesus said that man went home justified with God.

Why are we afraid to look to God? What is stopping you from looking to Him? Do not be afraid to lift your eyes to God. If you truly want to know Him, He will not turn you away. He has compassion, mercy, and grace for all who look to Him.

What does it take to receive that mercy and grace? Simply coming to Him humble in your heart, knowing that you have done wrong, and looking to Him to make it right.
